Destiny's Revenge by Nancy Straight

Goodreads Synopsis:

There was no reason for Lauren to be in a coma. Her physical injuries had healed, but she had been non-responsive for so long that her doctors told her family and Max to move on. She awoke to find her life in a shambles; the man she loved was gone, her friends had moved on with their lives, and her family was ripped apart by her accident. No one knew of the evil forces watching, waiting for her in the shadows, in the lonely corners, even in the eyes of those she loved. Lauren needed to reclaim her destiny, to get her life back; the last thing she ever expected was Destiny’s Revenge

My Review:

From the start of book 1 of this series we are introduced to a very strong, courageous girl who is not afraid of anything. But in the start of book 2 After being attacked by a beast and put in a coma for almost 3 years Lauren wakes up not quite as brave and sure about everything like before. She is afraid of being alone, afraid of the dark and extremely afraid of the thought of ever having to see Samuel again. Now she has to find that courage and her strength once more so she can destroy the beast and get her life back.

I loved Destiny's Revenge. I loved the new twists, and even though I didn't like it very much that Max wasn't there by Lauren's side when she came out of the coma it was a very good way to keep the reader reading and of course it made the story more exciting as well as interesting. With that said this book deserves 5 stars.

Amazon Book Description:

PARASITE PUBLICATIONS ~ YA Paranormal Romance

SOMETHING WITCHY:
My name is Ember Blaylock. Welcome to the World of Weird—better known as my life.

It wasn’t always like this. I was once a normal high school senior, just filling out college apps and trying to stay sane long enough to get out of Moonlight, Missouri. Preferably before I ended up in a straight-jacket out of sheer boredom.

At first, my only problems were my increasingly unwanted ability to see the dead and my desperation to remove the stalker known as my ex-boyfriend from my life. Somewhere along the line I must have pissed off the Bad Karma Fairy. Maybe I stepped on the wrong toadstool or peed in Loki’s personal swimming pool—I really don’t know. All I do know is I’m about to have the worst week of my life. Maybe the worst week of any teenager’s life. Ever.

All because of a dead guy.

From the second pale, too-hot-to-be-real Nathan Ashley stepped out of the wreckage of his mangled sports car, my life spiraled into complete and utter chaos. One minute, I'm quasi-normal, the next I’m being kidnapped by a vampire, I’m having weird, creepy powers sprout up out of nowhere, and I’m running from a demon who wants to get more familiar with my anatomy…or kill me. Again. Yeah, did I mention he's done it before?

Anybody know if those straight-jackets come in pink?

My Review:

Wow Something Witchy has climbed the charts to my favorite books. No words can describe how perfect this book was. Believe me this has nothing to do with A.J. Myers being my adopted author. This book was perfect from cover to end. There was absolutely nothing in it I didn't like. It was easy to read, easy to fall in love with the story and the characters. The details and descriptions of what was going on in the story made me imagine it all like as if I was right there watching it happen in front of me. With that said A.J. Myers took a vampire story to a whole new level of extraordinary, nothing like I've read about vampires before with a new spice to it. AJ's got a new fan dying to read more and more of this series and more of her work to come.

After a conversation with her parents which did not go so well, getting a speeding ticket and getting Saturday school detention Ember Blaylock was really not in the mood to have to deal with Jack the stalker. Jack has been Embers friend since third grade. After going on two dates all of a sudden Jack thinks he owns her but she wants nothing to do with Jack. Just when she thought her day of hell was over Jack was ready to follow her car after school. With help from Kim and Blake she leaves unseen by jack but as soon as she thinks they got away from him. Ember sees jack's car behind the sports car that is behind. Not paying much attention to the road more distracted with trying to get away from her stalker Ember crashes into the sports car that had gotten right in front of her and had stopped in the middle of the road. It all happens so fast....... From that day on Ember's whole life changes. As if seeing ghosts wasn't enough she will discover a whole new world where witches, vampires, ghosts and demons are very very real.

The drama between Nathan and Ember, the romance between the two, their adventure, the kick ass action, those moments of horror and all the twists made a really amazing story that I am certain will engross everyone into the story completely making the person forget about everything else while reading this book. Do I recommend it? Hell yes, you won't be disappointed.

Meeting Destiny by Nancy Straight

What was one of Lauren's normal night shift turned out to be the start of a very hard path. It all started that night when she felt something wasn't right as soon as she saw a suspicious man that alerted every danger alarm in her body. Somehow Lauren knew that if she didn't do anything something bad was going to happen. She knows she needs to take her friend Melissa out of harms way and she does. She tries to deal with the guy but things get out of hand. Lauren hadn't noticed what happened until her supervisor called the ambulance. It all happened so quickly. The paramedics arrived and that is when she looks into those eyes that have been in her dreams for four years. She meets her destiny, the guy who has been in her dreams for so long. Her whole life changes after that. In many good ways but also she will be face to face with evil. Lauren has to fight for her love, for her loved ones lives and for her own life. An evil being that wanted to end her life as soon as it discovered her gifts wants to kill her has been following her, watching her. He felt that she could be a threat. Lauren does not know she is in danger but soon she will. That evil has captured her so now she needs to fight. She needs to take control of her life and get her life back to the path that she was meant to follow.

It was so unfair, Lauren got a really hard life. She cant even spend a little time in peace with Max. Just when it seems everything will be ok something happens. I was so mad and sad for Paul. poor guy I really liked him. That whole chapter was killing me : (

What first caught my attention when I saw this book on Nancy's page was the title, then I read a few comments from her followers and I also couldn't resist that cover. The color of the cover is just so lovely I just had to read this book. I also knew it would be a great read and I was not wrong. It was an easy to read story, I felt I flew through the pages it had very clean originally unique plots that fell nicely with the story to make it even better. Nancy is very good at keeping me on the edge of my seat. I was going crazy when I wasn't even half way through the book lol. Truth is after I had finished reading this book I couldn't sleep I wanted to start reading "Destiny's Revenge" right away but I couldn't download it so I just downloaded the sample and read those first 30 pages then when I was done with it I couldn't sleep thinking about it. Thank goodness I was able to download it so I can keep reading to see what happens. I really am loving this story so far too just like I had enjoyed "Blood Debt" I really hope I won't have to suffer much with this second book but by the title of it I think there will be suffering.

Best Camp Counselor in the World By Mike Ronny

This book was given to me by the author Mike Ronny. Thank you Mike I really enjoyed reading this book. : )

First I want to say that Ken and little Catherine were my favorite characters. Ken is just so freaking fun and funny. He made me laugh so much at times, specially the way he was described in the book by Eddie. It made me laugh so hard. Catherine is a smart little girl and super friendly. It almost made me cry when she was saying goodbye to Eddie. She was just adorable. One of the funniest part was when Catherine and Donna were having a conversation with Eddie about relationships and them wanting him to meet their gym teacher, that whole conversation was so funny.

So the story starts with Eddie and Janie discussing Eddie's trip to Little Lobster Camp. Janie does not want Eddie to go but it would be Eddie's seventh year as a counselor and he is very excited to go again. When eddie is at the camp he meets Erika (who is not shy at all). Everything is fine for Eddie until he sees King Morrissey. A bully he knew from high school. Eddie was scared of what King would do to him if he would see him because his last encounter with king wasn't pretty and he was afraid king would want to fight him or worst, beat him up. In the end Eddie learns what matters most. He will learn to value what he has and that the one bad decision he was going to make would break one of the best things he had in his life. Funniest thing is that he learns this from the person he would least expect would help him open his eyes. He will learn that winning a contest is not as important as being appreciated and having a good impact in a kid's life. This was a fun short book that anyone will enjoy, remind one to value what one has and reflect on the things we want to do before we do them.

Her Sweetest Downfall Ophelia's Journey By Rebecca Hamilton

Goodreads Summary:

Ophelia's been successful at hiding her true identity, until the mark of the serpent appears on her neck—a death sentence, should it be seen by anyone in her town. Hiding the mark might save her from falling victim to the witch hunts of her era, but the scorching sensation it carries can’t be ignored.

When the mysterious Ethan is sent to collect her for a life of something more, she learns concealing the mark is the least of her concerns. She’s destined to do a new task—to join a dark, supernatural world and protect the future of people she may never meet.

What she doesn’t know—what she learns too late—is that her initiation won’t be complete until she kills the man who’s captured her heart

My review:

When Ophelia was first introduced into the story in the first book I had wished to read more about her. To know why she was helping Sophia so it was very awesome that Rebecca Hamilton brought us this book that told us Ophelia's journey how she got to the Maltorim and how she knew about Sophia.

The whole story was perfectly written from when Ophelia discovers the mark on her skin, getting send to deliver a letter that will never arrive to her destination because she was lured to where the music of her calling took her. To how Ophelia with the help of Ethan and Lenore managed to get her into the Maltorim to gain their trust and take her under their wing so she would be there for the day the girl she is to wait for arrives. One of the reasons why I read Rebecca Hamilton's books is because I love her writing style. It was a really easy to read story. Also a very enjoyable story with beautiful romance that in occasions made me cry but I am so very happy that nothing terrible happened because there was one moment I really thought something terrible was about to happen. I am happy happy it didn't. So yes I was very satisfied with this short but great book concentrated on Ophelia's story and can't wait to read the next book

I Love You to Death by Natalie Ward

The worst thing in the world that could happen to someone is to loose a loved one. It is something no one ever wants to think about specially if you feel whatever happened to that loved one was your fault.

Asha is just a normal girl trying to live a normal life. She wants everything everyone wants everything every person desires. A family, friends, to love, to be loved and for once just once that she won't loose those closest to her. Asha feels it is impossible to have a normal life. She has lived in fear after loosing everyone she loved specially after loosing the last person she had left, after loosing the love of her life. She feels she has nothing else left to live for. Everything changes when she finds the letter Sam had left for her. Asha still wont let anyone in she keeps to herself but no matter how much she tries to keep Luke away he will not give up because from the moment he saw her he wanted to make her happy. From the moment he saw her he never wanted to loose her.

I always enjoy a book that can really come to life. "I love you to death" did that. The characters were real, the plot perfect, nice flowing words and fantastic description of what was happening. The playlist was an AMAZING touch too. All the songs were perfect for all the chapters and of course they are all my favorite songs. It is funny cause all but 5 songs are in my iPod playlist. They just fall perfect perfect for every chapter. Really made me get the chills.

What I loved the most about this book and all the books I read is when they can make my soul fly out of my body, dance, float around and jump with happiness. The feeling that this books give me is amazing. I cannot explain at all as much as I try. But i'm sure everyone feels them too when they bump into the pages of a great book. Including the goosebumps when those certain parts come to life. Those goose bumps are one serious deal that I can only feel with reading AWESOME stories like this. A million of applause for Natalie Ward.
I have to admit that for a moment I wanted to just stop reading this book, my view was so so blurry sometimes. My eyes hurt, my head, and even my brain hurt. I couldn't make that knot in my throat go away. I have read quite a few books that make me cry in some parts but this book either made me cry of happiness or sadness but it always managed to squeeze a gazillion tears out of me. Already had expected the worst but loved the ending. "I Love you to Death" did not disappoint me. I was once again a happy reader and once again cried of happiness. A must must read and a must must re-read really recommend it. You will love this book. Just have a clenex box close by, you will need it.

Dexter in The Dark (dexter #3) by Jeff Lindsay

It is an ordinary day in the job of a blood splatter expert. Dexter is called to a crime scene when he arrives something about the crime scene forces his dark passenger go into hiding. Dexter seeks for answers, what made his dark passenger hide? Where did his dark passenger go and how could he get him to come back.
Will he have to live a simple life with-out his dark passenger?

Now I know why ShowTime didn't make the kids (Cody and Astor) as interesting in the show as they were in the book. In this third book we get to know Dexter a little more. We get to know what, where his dark passenger came from and who Dexter would be with ought his dark passenger.

What I liked the most about this 3rd book was seeing a whole new Dexter being scared of almost everything almost having some kind of feelings. It was in so many ways funnier too. I couldn't stop laughing in some parts of the book. I was a little confused though when the story started going more to the supernatural side. At first I was a little confused by that but as I kept reading I thought it was pretty good though the idea of seeing dexter stupefied by the music he heard calling him wasn't very fun (I just dont like seeing Dex defeated by anything.) Even with a few little things I wasn't totally loving I still liked the plot and enjoyed reading Dexter in the Dark. It has pretty good dark humor and really love that dexter does not make mistakes like in the show.
